Congregation Reassignments in Ohio?

from what i understand, a letter was read this past week in regards to congregation reassignments and that the elders want to meet with people at their homes to tell them where they have been reassigned.

obviously, this would be due to the merging and dissolution of congregations.

can anyone confirm this?.

I really think it’s poor management from the top. I don’t think they realize that the culture has changed somewhat and people are more likely to be upset when something happens to them personally. That’s what happens when uneducated, delusional fools are put in charge of running a corporation and think they have God’s backing instead of getting real world advice.

In the area grew up in, which was rural, there have been at least 5 Kingdon Hall closed and tons of restructuring. But the old timers keep going.........

Sex before marriage

what is your opinion regarding sex before marriage, has your view been influenced since you left?

in western society, you’ll probably find yourself ridiculed to be an 18 year old virgin so i am curious to hear opinions from here.

I do not care what other people do in the bedroom. It is up to them to make their own decisions.

For me, the thought of marrying someone and not knowing if we were compatible sexually didn’t make sense.

young ones try and be friends with older ones

know before i say anything the title might make go like ''what?are you going to say that its bad for a younger person to be friends with a older one'' no not at all i think its a good thing that a kid should have at least one older person they are friends with.. now,i dont think young people should not try and talk to some one older than them or become friends like i said.but to me it seems more like a cover up for the watchtower because a lot of young people when they can most will likey want to get out and leave.now to me all the time when i see a congregation there are more older people than younger.young people mostly want to have a friends there age,but that's hard most family's say ''we dont want to have kids in this system.

''which leaves a low amount of kids in a congregation.. what i'm saying here is that not all congregations have 12,13,16,5,6 year old kids so kids that age dont have many friends to start out with.

so i see the hole thing on making friends with older ones and you should be talking to older ones more as a cover up to that problem.. i might be wrong about this hole thing but i wanted to talk about,as some one who cant really have friends because there is no one my age i could really talk to..

I also think they want to encourage friendships with older ones to try to control the natural actions of the younger members. Older ones tend to be more indoctrinated and less questioning - and can guide young ones to be the same.

Apostate - what does the word mean to you?

over a period of time i got to thinking - what does the word 'apostate' mean to me.

having given it some thought, this is my view;.

the org has given the word its own definition and basically use it to demonise people and consider them pariahs.. however, the jw meaning of 'apostate' is a mere word and only has power if recognised as such.

Hatred From My Children for Not Leaving the Organization Earlier

i'm not proud of the fact that it took me over 50 years to realized what the organization really was and to finally leave it.

not proud at all, i feel pretty stupid.

however i didn't lose my children.

After I left I realized I had to play the hand I was dealt. I did miss out on a lot growing up in the cult. But when I left, it was my decision, not one I could blame on anyone else. I didn’t wait for my parents to leave so I could follow them.(They never will leave.)

It was harder to assimilate into a “regular” life after having been raised as a witness. But many worldly people helped me along the way. I don’t blame my parents for joining the cult. The Witnesses caught them at a vulnerable point in their lives, and neither had their family’s support.

You can choose to dwell on the past and the negative impact or choose to say this will not define me.

Since You Left The Organization Do You Celebrate National and Religious Holidays?

i know of people who were disciplined because they observed the fourth of july fireworks celebration.

and i know many people who celebrated thanksgiving but just didn’t call it that because they could get into trouble with the elders.. do you now celebrate birthdays and other holidays or is that something you really don’t care about?

Yes — I do all of them. For birthdays it’s about telling someone ”I am glad you were born”. Halloween I like to give out candy and see all the kids costumes. Easter and Thanksgiving are all about the food. Christmas is so much fun to get the people you love presents they want.

None of it is religious for me.

Just a 4 years ago one of my relatives was stalked by elders. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it myself when I was staying at the relatives house for a week. They showed up at the house nearly every day. Outside a grocery store, outside a restaurant, until I finally had enough and called the sheriff. It does happen.

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad

today, july 1, i wrote what has become my annual contact with my parents.

it is their 51st wedding anniversary.

i e-mail them from across the world where i now live to let them know that i haven't forgotten them, i still love them, and that i'm doing okay.

Only an ex JW would understand the significance of this on their anniversary. It’s the only thing they are allowed to celebrate, only time gifts and cards were sent. So while others reflect on Mothers Day or Thanksgiving we reflect on their Anniversaries.
